  • Build Log 001 — Foundation Locked

    Summary

The No Signal Media foundation is now in place. The site has moved from a plain WordPress setup into a private media-house structure with a public splash page, protected member rooms, a logged-in shell, and an atmospheric My Room dashboard.

    What Was Built

    • Created the public logged-out experience as a simple splash page.
    • Created a logged-in member shell with a limited header.
    • Added left-side room navigation.
    • Added right-side tools navigation.
    • Protected private pages from logged-out visitors.
    • Set login redirect so members land on My Room.
    • Added clean logout behavior.
    • Created placeholder room content for Radio, TV, Social, Learn, Private, Meet, Account, and Settings.
    • Added active room highlighting.
    • Added a random My Room hero background pulled from uploaded background images.
    • Added hover behavior for the hero image.
    • Added date, time, and weather placeholder widgets.
    • Added Recently Published / Recently Liked section.
    • Added Messages section.

    Current State

Logged-out visitors see the public Home splash and Login.

Logged-in users see the member layout with:

    • Rooms navigation on the left
    • Main content in the center
    • Tools on the right
    • My Room as the landing page

The My Room page now includes:

    • Random visual hero
    • Welcome message
    • Date and time widgets
    • Weather placeholder
    • Recently Published / Recently Liked cards
    • Messages cards

    Decisions Made

    • My Room is the member landing page.
    • The public site should stay minimal.
    • The visual system will use ambient, abstract, nature, macro, weather, texture, night, and filmic AI images.
    • Background images are stored in uploads, not dumped randomly into the Media Library.
    • Hero images use a 16:9 image strategy with a center-safe crop.
    • Weather will stay as a placeholder until the core visual system is stable.
    • Build documentation will use WordPress posts under the Build Log category.

    Open Issues

    • The active room dot was removed from the preferred direction, but active state styling may need another polish pass.
    • Weather is not yet live.
    • Recently Published / Recently Liked is currently static placeholder content.
    • Messages are currently static placeholder content.
    • The My Room layout needs mobile testing.
    • The background image folder and naming system should stay consistent.

    Next Steps

    1. Clean up section heading hierarchy on My Room.
    2. Decide whether Recently Published / Recently Liked should pull from posts, likes, saved items, or all three.
    3. Decide whether Messages should be user messages, system notices, AI prompts, or a mixed signal feed.
    4. Add a Build Log link somewhere in the member system if useful.
    5. Create Build Log 002 after the next major layout update.

    Reminder Notes

    • Access and navigation logic live in MU plugins.
    • The visual shell lives in the No Signal Media child theme.
    • Background images are stored in: /wp-content/uploads/no-signal/backgrounds/
    • The current build is still prototype-level but the foundation is working.
    • Do not overbuild the automation until the documentation structure proves useful.
